DIY Wedding Invitations from a Uniquity DIY Invitations digital template

Do-it-yourself wedding invitations are all the rage these days. We 've been trying to stay on top of it for you and have run a series of stories describing all the various options: kits that you can print at home, bulk paper and supplies you can use to make your own etc etc. (read those articles, listed in the "related stories" box, below).

DIY Invitations for the Computer-friendly Bride

Here is a new option we just discovered: digital wedding invitation templates, which you can edit on your home computer and print on your home printer - or you can also print at KINKO's I guess, if you need super-professional colors and papers.. In fact, I am wondering whether you could combine options: (a) pick a nice template, then (b) buy some fancy bulk paper from a place like Paper Garden and create an even fancier end-product.

In any case, the company that offers these digital templates is Tammy Lyon's Uniquity DIY Invitations. They are in BC, but location is irrelevant, since you order straight from their website.

There are tons of different styles there, to cover every taste. What they send you is a PDF file which you can add your personalised text to and print. What's even cooler about this process is that you can actually work with Tammy and modify the designs or even commission her to design a custom invitation just for you.

Tammy says:

Our templates are super easy to use. Brides basically open up the pdf file in reader. (a free software program most users already have installed) then select the sample text in place, and type in the text they wish to use. They can even change the font and color if needed. Then they print them off, and trim them using the dotted cut lines. A great way to DIY.

I am not trying to recruit all brides to DIY, however for brides that are looking to, this is a much easier way. Without the stress of using word processing software and setting up margins. Without trying to design something yourself that in the end will look 'home-made' The brides that have used our template say their guests never knew they made them at home, and saved so much money and time in the process. A great way to get some style, and save money in the recession we are all affected by.
