Press Release

The Weddings on the Border Bridal Showcase is returning for its second year in the Border City. After an extremely successful debut in 2008, organizer Kaylie Franklin is putting together a show that is bigger and better for 2009.

"For 2009 we really looked for more support for the show from the community, allowing us to provide our brides with bigger door prizes, which gives us the ability to show couples what Lloyd is made of!"

The bridal show is taking place March 14, 2009 at Lakeland College's Lloydminster campus. The tradeshow portion of the event is being held in the college's gymnasium, while the stage shows and fashion shows will take place in the cafeteria area of the college's main building. The 2008 show was held at the Lloydminster Exhibition.

Bridal by Chan and Cliff Rose for Clothes are teaming up with Weddings on the Border to put on a fashion show that will feature the latest styles in wedding wear.

"With so many years of experience under their belts, I feel privileged that they are taking the time to be part of the show. These are two of Lloydminster's most successful companies. They are looked highly upon for their knowledge in the wedding industry,"

Fame Studios returns this year with a dance exhibition that will feature couples dancing as well as several larger dance numbers.

Also slated to entertain is Lloydminster's Warne Noyce of the Combine Pilots, who will take the stage with his guitarist to sing a few songs.

"Warne! I barely had to ask him to be part of the show! He is such a performer that we really could not do something this big without having him involved. He represents what the show is all about - community support and class,"

The bridal show is featuring several major grand prizes provided by local companies.

  • Carlson Wagonlit Travel has offered up a week-long trip for two to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico including airfare, transfers and seven nights at one of the five-star plus Karisma resorts.
  • Two local decorating companies, Happily Ever After and Dazzle By Dawn, are working together to provide a $2,000 decorating package to one lucky couple.
  • Cliff Rose for Clothes has donated five suit rentals of the winners choice, valued between $750 and $1,000.
  • Jennifer Jacula of Jennifer Jacula Photography is offering a $500 voucher towards a wedding photography package.

The tradeshow draws companies from all over the Lakeland region and Midwestern Saskatchewan, including caterers, cake creators, photographers, decorators, travel agents and much, much more.

The show opens at 11:00 a.m. on March 14th and doesn't close its doors until 8:00 p.m.
Admission is just $10 and no pre-registration is required.
